Controlling HIV Demands Novel Vaccine Approach
In September, HIV vaccine researchers were stunned by the failure of the second HIV vaccine candidate ever tested in people. In April, Dan Barouch and his colleagues began testing a tweaked vaccine vector, hoping to overcome the setback. Other researchers in the Harvard Medical community are evaluating the next best steps toward an HIV vaccine and pursing multiple paths to overcome the many obstacles. The research provides a view into the future of HIV vaccines.
