By July 2007 almost all Massachusetts residents will be required to have health insurance or face a financial penalty. In this forum we will examine key details of the new Massachusetts health insurance law and explore what it requires of individuals and of employers. A few of the questions that we will discuss are: What constitutes affordable insurance? Is the Massachusetts plan attractive enough to low income residents? Is the financing adequate in the short and long term? What flexibility exists to expand coverage to children? What other policy options exist to improve the provision of health care to all of our citizens? Does Massachusetts have a sustainable model that can be replicated in other states around the country?
