Heart Tracings Reveal Sleep Patterns for Health and Disease
The electrocardiograph, one of more than a dozen devices routinely used to evaluate sleep, may be able to do the job of all the other instruments. Researchers led by Robert Thomas have applied electrocardiograph recordings to map the landscape of sleep, and in doing so, they have shown that healthy people tend to have more stable sleep, while unstable sleep predominates in disease.
