Optic Nerve Regrown in Mice
The mammalian central nervous system has a remarkable ability to store memories and maintain complex connections, but the tradeoff is that it can’t regenerate after injury. Now, for the first time, a team of researchers, led by Dong Feng Chen, reports that it has engineered experimental animals to fully regrow damaged optic nerves.

Med Students Take Environmental Concerns to Washington
Christine Pace and eight fellow students from HMS joined others in Washington, D.C., to explore ways that physicians can counter environmental threats to their patients. The students, part of Students for Environmental Awareness in Medicine, also presented a petition on the environment and human health to their senators and representatives.
