From Focus Online: For many Americans nearing retirement, not having health insurance can substantially increase their risk of premature death. But for African Americans in their 50s and early 60s, having insurance provides only a slight increase in what is already a lower life expectancy than that of white Americans. These are some of the findings of a recent study by John Ayanian and colleagues on the correlation between insurance coverage and mortality.
