In Print Photo by Steve Gilbert From Focus: Harvard Introduces Joint MD-MBA HMS and Harvard Business School have announced that they will launch a five-year joint MD-MBA program in September 2005. The program's mission is to develop outstanding physician leaders, skilled in both medicine and management, who will seek out positions of leadership in health care and related fields. Erica Seiguer reports that the pay-for-performance trend in health care is gaining strength in the public and private sectors through experimental programs that reward providers for excelling in selected outcome measures. It is not clear, though, that financial incentives will lead to long-term improvement in patient care.
