SpotlightPostdoc Association Holds Inaugural EventPostdocs at HMS and HSDM have a new resource available in the form of the HMS/HSDM Quad Postdoctoral Association (PDA), an organization aiming to provide representation and liaison between its members and the two schools. The association will hold events assisting in career and professional development and promoting social interaction between its members and the HMS and HSDM community. One recurring event will be monthly lunch meetings featuring invited faculty members and administrators discussing issues of interest. At the PDA's inaugural seminar on March 22, a one-hour workshop, "The Academic CV," was held for approximately 80 postdocs. The seminar addressed the importance of a complete and accurate CV when job hunting or when seeking a promotion and covered how to create a CV in the HMS format. Mary Clark, associate dean for faculty affairs, spoke about academic CV basics and Mortimer Litt, associate dean for educational programs, discussed using the FIRST program, accessible through eCommons, to create an HMS-formatted CV online. The workshop was co-sponsored by the GSAS Biotech Club and the HMS/HSDM Postodoc Office. Membership is open to postdoctoral research fellows appointed by HMS or HSDM in Quad-based departments. Affiliated membership is open to postdoctoral scholars who are appointed by affiliated institutions of HMS and HSDM. For more information on the PDA, contact Chunling Lu. |
