Presenters:
Carl Walter Amphitheater The Office of Educational Development and the Academy at HMS sponsor this annual symposium on the science of learning to stimulate discourse among faculty on the process of adult learning and to promote an appreciation for research on learning from a variety of disciplines. This year, the focus is how attitudes are learned. The symposium includes formal presentations as well as discussions about the relationship between research on learning and how medical training is, or should be, conducted. Kenneth Kosik, HMS professor of neurology, presents "Mind Reading and the Social Brain." Mahzarin Banaji, HU professor of social psychology, presents "Mind Bugs: The Psychology of Ordinary Prejudices." Robert LeVine, professor emeritus at Harvard Graduate School of Education, presents "Cultural and Interactional Contexts of Learning." Augustus White, professor of orthopedic surgery and the Ellen and Melvin Gordon professor of medical education, is the discussant.
