In her position at the alliance, she oversees a national staff of 26 professionals as well as field operations throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Hispanics. Prior to this position, she served in the Office of the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Working under then DHHS Secretary Margaret Heckler, she was a key force in the development of the landmark "Report of the Secretary's Task Force on Black and Minority Health." She served at DHHS from 1979 to 1985. Robert H. Ebert, for whom this lecture is named, was dean of HMS from 1965 to 1977 and championed numerous initiatives and programs that today help define the very character of the School.
