SpotlightFabric Celebrates Art of the African Diaspora
Fabric, a celebration of creativity as it has evolved within the dynamic African Diaspora, was held on April 4 in the Tosteston Medical Education Center Atrium. This year's theme was "The Diaspora's Dialogue: Articulating Art from Africa to the Americas."
Yanerys Ramos and Nicholas Lopez The African Diaspora has afforded present-day Africans, Caribbeans, and black Americans the opportunity to engage in cultural expansion and exchange on many levels. The creative arts represent a unique arena within which every form of black creativity, from the most ancient African rhythms to the most modern American poems, can thrive, interact, and evolve. At present, there exists a living, trans-Atlantic dialogue between the music, dance, and visual art of Africa and that of the Americas.
Joe Garland and Onyi Iweala This free program included song, dance, poetry, fashion-art, and food.
