At a November AIDS conference at the Harvard School of Public Health, former Zambian president Kenneth Kaunda warned that children must be at the center of prevention efforts. Student Scene Photo by Graham Ramsay New Law Limits Actions Over Vaccine Preservative Included in the Homeland Security Bill signed into law late last year was a provision restricting lawsuits against manufacturers of thimerosal-containing vaccines. Though research is inconclusive on the matter, some critics have charged that when mercury-based thimerosal is used as a vaccine preservative, it may cause autism. Now parents of affected children may have limited legal recourse.
