2003 William Belden Noble Lectures
Presenters:
Memorial Church As the 2003 William Belden Noble lecturer, Francis Collins, director of the National Human Genome Research Institute, will deliver a series of lectures exploring genetics, medicine, and faith. The first lecture on Feb. 3 will be "From Atheist to Believer: A Personal Voyage" and will feature Armand Nicholi, HMS associate clinical professor of psychiatry, as respondent. On Feb. 4, Collins's talk will be "Can a Geneticist Be a Believer? Evolution and Other Challenges" with a response by Kenneth Miller, professor of biology at Brown University. The final talk in the series, on Feb. 5, will be "Genetics, Ethics and Faith" and will feature a response by the Reverend Ted Peters, director of the Science and Religion Course Program at the Graduate Theological Union. The Noble Lectures were founded in 1998 through a bequest of Nannie Yulee Noble in memory of her husband. This series is free and open to the public. Free parking is available at the Broadway Garage.
