From Focus: After years of study, reproductive biologists still have not pinpointed the molecular players that enable the brain's hypothalamus to signal the beginning of puberty. But a recent study by (from left) William Crowley, James Acierno, Stephanie Seminara, and their colleagues reports the identification of a gene, GPR54, that appears to play a critical role in getting the message out.
