Innate Signal Sparks Homing of T Cells

Three studies published together, two by HMS researchers, help explain the uncanny ability of T cells to home to trouble spots in the body. The similar results come from different investigative trails taken by Andrew Luster (above), Ulrich von Andrian, and other scientists. Their work suggests new approaches to treating inflammatory diseases like asthma.

In a tribute to the achievements of women physicians, the National Library of Medicine has opened the exhibit, "Changing the Face of Medicine: Celebrating America's Women Physicians." Behind the White Coat: Depression in Medical School
Clinical rotations present a host of challenges for medical students, says Alisa Land. A primary source of stress is the apparent opposition of some of the physicians who deal with students on rounds. To address the problem, she urges a more supportive model of clinical education.
