Brake on Axon Regrowth Discovered

In work that aims at facilitating therapies to reverse brain and spinal cord injury, Zhigang He and his colleagues have discovered a novel inhibitor of axon regeneration in the central nervous system. They also have found that this protein and two other growth inhibitors bind to the same receptor. Developing drugs that block the receptor could enable axons to regrow.
