Old-line Antibiotics Seen to Save Neurons

Developed as an antibiotic 30 years ago, minocycline has recently been shown to protect against neurodegenerative diseases. Robert Friedlander and colleagues have now identified a mechanism for this effect: the prevention of mitochondrial swelling.
