Creating the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering: An Intriguing Past and Exciting Future
Presenter:
12:15 p.m. Donna Dean, acting director of the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, will present a history and a look forward at this newest of the National Institutes of Health, established in 2000. Dean is also a senior scientific adviser in the Office of the Director at the NIH. She was responsible for the creation of the initial operating infrastructure and implementation plans of the new institute. She is involved in several research and policy activities at the NIH and served as its liaison to the Commission on the Advancement of Women, Minorities and Persons with Disabilities in Science, Engineering and Technology. |
