Focus:
Polarity Gene Yields Clues to Organization of Cell Signaling, Structural Growth

Beth Stronach, Norbert Perrimon, and colleagues have cloned the last of four genes previously found to control the top-down organization of epithelial cells in the embryo. Their work illuminates the spatial aspect of cell signaling and the developing structure of the cell.

HMI Partner Offers Clerkship in India
In 2001, Meghan Baker and Anne Lee became the first HMS students to participate in an exchange with Sri Ramachandra Medical College in India, taking part in a two-month elective clerkship on the application of public health sciences to primary care. Sri Ramachandra is a private academic medical center that has been a partner of Harvard Medical International (HMI) since 1997.
