Protein May Tip Balance in the Fate of a Cell
The choice that embryonic cells of the nematode make about what kind of organ or tissue to become is guided by a protein recently identified by Yang Shi and his colleagues. This worm molecule has a counterpart in humans. In the future, the findings may aid in therapeutic cloning and cancer treatment.
