Community Service Symposium
Minot Room This symposium will bring together participants in community service learning projects from international and local settings. Students, faculty, and community partners will present projects on a number of themes, including AIDS/HIV education, support and ethnography projects, caring for children with special health care needs, and working with Vietnamese communities in domestic and foreign settings. After the presentations, a panel of HMS faculty and community organization leaders, including David Urion, faculty director of the Division of Service Learning, and Ed O'Rourke, assistant clinical professor of pediatrics and chair of the faculty committee on international programs in the Office of Enrichment Programs, will discuss areas of confluence in this work and directions for future collaboration. Students, faculty, and community leaders will come away with an understanding of the connection between local community initiatives and international research and action. The event is cosponsored by the Division of Service Learning, the Office of Community Outreach Programs, and the Office of Enrichment Programs. |
