Oscar Tugo Circle Dedicated
A project that was 15 years in the making, according to HMS director of campus operations Jane Garfield and Sarah Hamilton of MASCO (l to r), the reconstruction of Oscar Tugo Circle changes the face of the soon-to-be center of the HMS campus. In a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 15, Hamilton said that the new configuration improves pedestrian safety and traffic flow as well as aesthetics. The circle, at the intersection of Longwood and Louis Pasteur avenues, is named for Private Oscar Tugo, an Army medic assigned to the Harvard unit in World War I and the first American enlisted man to die in the conflict.
