Worm Used to Hook New Serotonin Receptor

Stephen Cannon and colleagues at MIT have identified a new serotonin receptor in the worm C. elegans. It's only the second member to be found in the family of fast serotonin-gated channel receptors, which work more quickly and fleetingly than the larger family of slow receptors. Cannon is now searching for the human homologue, a discovery that could lead to new types of drug therapy.

Office for Research Nets Website
The HMS Office for Research now has a website illustrating its scope and organization. It is of particular interest to researchers on the Quad, at the Dental School and Primate Center, and those involved in certain collaborations between the Quad and affiliated institutions. The site provides access to relevant documents, forms, and policies and offers convenient links to HMS core facilities and related research offices.

Connect!: An 'Anti-gunner' Battle Cry
One obstacle to earning an MD that Tarayn Grizzard was not prepared to face is "gunners." These are the students who need to blow every test they take out of the water, which explodes any chance they have of really connecting with their peers. What's an anti-gunner to do? Encourage a campaign to socialize these misguided classmates.
