City, Community, and University Dignitaries Pitch in at Groundbreaking for New Research Building
On Feb. 1, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino joined other leaders from the city, the University and Medical School, and the surrounding community for the ceremonial groundbreaking that marked the start of construction on HMS's new research building. Work crews began in December to prepare the site for the $250 million facility, which will anchor the campus's new North Quad.

Having 'Box Checked' Signals Final Lap of Graduate Ed
Graduate students have to put in years of work at the bench before they can begin writing their thesis. The green light has to come from each student's thesis advisory committee. Since every student and project are different, determining when that signal comes is just as much art as science.
