Mosaic Blood Vessels Could Provide Portal for Metastasis
Taking an engineering approach to cancer metastasis, Rakesh Jain (left) and Lance Munn have found that cells from tumors infiltrate the walls of the blood vessels that permeate and feed the tumors. These mosaic vessels could be a primary route for the spread of cancer, allowing a million cells per gram of tumor each day to pass into the bloodstream.

Outreach Office Adds Bridge Between Students and Boston Neighborhoods
Established two years ago, the Office of Community Outreach Programs forms partnerships between the Medical and Dental Schools and the surrounding minority communities. New director Jacquelyn Smith-Crooks encourages students to watch for opportunities to get involved.
