Making Ends Meet: New Way Found to Mend DNA, Protect Against Cancer

Researchers led by Frederick Alt have shown that a set of proteins known to rejoin broken ends of DNA in developing B and T cells also makes repairs in other cells. When this protective function breaks down, cancer may result, so the mechanism could be a target for future cancer therapies.
