Immune Proteins Found Moonlighting in Brain
Researchers led by Carla Shatz have discovered immune proteins in the brains of mice. In the immune system, these molecules are part of a lock-and-key mechanism that helps recognize and destroy foreign invaders. In the brain, they may be part of a remodeling process that pinpoints and eliminates inappropriate nerve cell connections.

The Internet: Key to Solving the Materials and Methods Mystery

This makes reproducing the experiments problematic. She suggests publishing a complete version of these sections on the Web is an obvious solutionand one that could improve the conduct of science.
