World AIDS Day 2000
Presenters:
6:00-9:00 p.m. The African AIDS Initiative International and Trinity Church present World AIDS Day 2000, an evening of awareness for AIDS in Africa. The event will be hosted by Reverend Samuel Lloyd of Trinity Church and speakers will include Laura Riley, director of OB/GYN infectious diseases and maternal fetal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital; K. Anthony Appiah, professor of Afro-American studies and philosophy at Harvard University; Belynda Dunn of the AIDS Action Committee; Jacqueline Maloney of the Sisters' Project at the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for Afro-American Research; Charles Ogletree, professor of law and director of clinical programs, Harvard Law School; and Elleni West, president of the African AIDS Initiative International. Cosponsors of the event include the Barbara Krakow Gallery, Harvard AIDS Institute, the Museum of the National Center for Afro-Americans, AIDS Action Committee, Multicultural AIDS Coalition, W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for Afro-American Research, Harvard University Arts Committee on AIDS, Boston councilman Michael Ross, state senator Diane Wilkerson, and U.S. Senator John Kerry.
