James L. Reinertsen is HMS professor of medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and CEO of CareGroup, where he oversees the clinical, teaching, and research systems for the Beth Israel Deaconess and Mount Auburn Hospitals, among others.

In his work in the management of health care systems, he has placed particular emphasis on quality improvement of medical care and service, health care market reform, and leadership development.

Reinertsen's lecture will focus on the need for leadership, particularly from physicians, if health care systems are to improve in care and service during this period of unprecedented financial stress.
