Mouse Model Sheds Light on Development of Killer T Cells

By incorporating a green fluorescent tag into the immature T cells of mice, N. Manjunath, Ulrich von Andrian (l to r), and colleagues have created an animal model that reflects how the immune system turns the immature cells into specialized killers. Killer T cells can seek out and destroy cells injured by cancer or infection.

New Journal Highlights Impact of Environmental Changes on Human Health

The Center for Health and the Global Environment at HMS has begun an on-line journal, the Quarterly Review, that summarizes the most important current findings about changes in the global environment and the implications for human health. Since the journal is designed for both a scientific and general audience, each summary is followed by references and a technical review and discussion.
